No wonder why everybody’s going wild about epoxy resin lately! There are so many crazy, cool things you can create with it for your friends, for yourself, and for your home.
What’s cool about epoxy is that it’s easy to use, fun, and it allows absolutely anybody to show off their artistic side. You don’t have to be Picasso to be an amazing artist. Start small with some DIY ideas that will transform your home into a lovely and cozy oasis of personal aesthetics.
1. Precious Coasters
Coasters don’t have to be boring! Create your own unique coaster set that resembles geodes for a beautiful, decorative accent. This is also a great way to try your hand at resin art. Start by creating the shape of each coater, using a silicone mat on which you design the outline of the coasters with a glue gun and some glue sticks. Create a thick layer of the outline to build up the edge of your coaster.
Here comes the resin! In some plastic cups, mix in the crystal-clear epoxy, like Roxy Epoxy, with some colorful paint. Roxy Epoxy comes with Mica powder colors from which you can choose the ones you want for the project. For beautiful geodes, I’d recommend purple, fuchsia, blue, pink, gold and white. Stir until the color evens out. To create the ring look, pour color after color in the center of the piece, letting them spread and blend. For an extra wow factor, add some glitter too! Allow it to dry for 24 hours, then paint the edges in gold or silver. Lastly, put felt on the bottom side to protect your tables.
2. Glossy lifetime photos
Want to keep your precious moments forever on display? Use epoxy resin to preserve your dearest photos, and even include them in different DIY projects. You can customize a beautiful photo frame, a wooden jewelry box, a small table and more. Place the photo or photos in the mold of your choice and simply pour the epoxy resin until it covers the entire surface. To easily remove bubbles, use a heat gun and then let it dry.
3. Prettify your napkins
How about some artistic napkin rings to elevate your table setting to a new level?
Create stunning pieces that will embellish any plain napkin ring by using some flower shaped molds, epoxy, and colorful powders. Mix the desired color with the epoxy in the mold and let it dry for 24 hours. Here’s the trick for this super cool accessory: remove the resin from the mold before it’s completely dry and curve it around the napkin ring. Use a hot glue gun to secure it in place.
4. Knob it up!
Do you often look at décor ideas such as beautiful door knobs and sigh with pleasure when seeing how they add a touch of glam to the room? Well, it’s not that hard to achieve the same Bohemian look for your home too. Whether we’re talking about cabinet knobs or door knobs, create a special design by encasing a piece of old jewelry, a small plant, or flower in resin and use colored powders.
5. Pretty paperweights
You’ll start using paperweights again once you see how easy they are to make and how much they beautify your desk. Choose a shape for your mold (round, cubic, oval) and some dried flowers or small plants to create a flowing, aethereal design. Pour the resin into the mold and use a toothpick to place the dried flowers or petals in the resin. It will create a floating effect that will look spectacular. Let it dry for 24 hours before removing it from the mold.
Is this your first-time using epoxy resin or are you a pro-level crafter? We’d love to hear what beautiful pieces you’ve made and where you have them displayed in your home!
